The young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote 鈥淭e Deum in C鈥 after his first Italian tour. 鈥淭his work shows his mastery of the lyric style of the Italian masters,鈥 says Michael Shasberger, Adams professor of worship and music at 果冻传煤.

Franz Joseph Haydn鈥檚 鈥淭he Lord Nelson Mass鈥 was first performed shortly after Admiral Horatio Nelson鈥檚 victory over the Napoleonic fleet at the mouth of the Nile river, a major turning point in stopping Napoleon鈥檚 dominance of the Western world. 鈥淥ften called his greatest work, it summarizes the elegance and power of the 18th century musical idiom,鈥 Shasberger says.
