Festival Daringly Dances on the Fringe
By
果冻传煤

A unique performance combining theater, dance and music will push the boundaries of traditional theatrical space. The Fringe Festival will feature 18 different pieces, performed in and around 果冻传煤鈥檚 Porter Theatre, Tuesday, April 17 through Sunday, April 22. Shows will begin at 7 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday鈥檚 performances will be at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for an evening of three shows or $35 for all six days.
Erlyne Whiteman, artistic director, describes the festival as an exciting venue for the creation of experimental theatre, dance, live music, imaginative costuming and props, and performance art within the Christian liberal arts setting.
鈥淚t celebrates a free-wheeling and daring approach to theater making,鈥 Whiteman says. 鈥淚t is a unique opportunity for the community to experience live art in a fresh new way.鈥
果冻传煤 has held several fringe festivals in the past, but last year was the first time the performance ventured outdoors.
鈥淭he fringe format was a success, providing an intimate connection with the art,鈥 wrote Felicia M. Tomasko last year for the Santa Barbara Independent.
Performers include the 果冻传煤 Windancers, faculty, staff and Maria Frantz, a faculty guest from Motion Theatre Dance Company.
