A unique performance combining theater, dance and music will push the boundaries of traditional theatrical space. The Fringe Festival will feature 18 different pieces, performed in and around ������ú’s Porter Theatre, Tuesday, April 17 through Sunday, April 22. Shows will begin at 7 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Sunday’s performances will be at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $10 for an evening of three shows or $35 for all six days.

Erlyne Whiteman, artistic director, describes the festival as an exciting venue for the creation of experimental theatre, dance, live music, imaginative costuming and props, and performance art within the Christian liberal arts setting.

“It celebrates a free-wheeling and daring approach to theater making,” Whiteman says. “It is a unique opportunity for the community to experience live art in a fresh new way.”

������ú has held several fringe festivals in the past, but last year was the first time the performance ventured outdoors.

“The fringe format was a success, providing an intimate connection with the art,” wrote Felicia M. Tomasko last year for the Santa Barbara Independent.

Performers include the ������ú Windancers, faculty, staff and Maria Frantz, a faculty guest from Motion Theatre Dance Company.
