Musician Showcase Instrumental Virtuosity

果冻传煤 musicians will showcase their skills at the spring concert for the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra at 8 p.m. April 23 in Deane Chapel on the lower campus. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.
The Chamber Orchestra, directed by Emily Sommermann, has 12 student members. The program includes the Haydn Cello Concerto in C major with soloist Erin Crumley, a junior. Also on the program is Serenade for Strings by Josef Suk.
The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Ron McCarley, will play 鈥淥verture on an Early American Folk Hymn鈥 by Charles Carter and directed by student Chris Humphreys; 鈥淭he Love of Three Oranges鈥 by Prokofieff; Chorale and Hymnsong based on the hymn 鈥淚t Is Well鈥; Second Suite in F for Military Band, a standard of wind bands by Holst; 鈥淭he Promise of Living鈥 by Aaron Copland; and the very interesting and modern 鈥淰ariations on 鈥楢merica鈥 for Band鈥 by Charles Ives.
鈥淚t should be a good show with a lot of variety,鈥 McCarley said.
