Oregon Songwriter, Professor to Read Poetry

JoliffSongwriter and poet William Jolliff will have a free poetry reading at 果冻传煤, Tuesday, March 21, at 3:30 p.m., in Hieronymus Lounge.

Jolliff chairs the department of writing and literature at George Fox University. He earned a doctorate in English from Ohio State University. He previously taught at Messiah College in Pennsylvania, where he earned an excellence in teaching award.

His poems have been published in numerous journals around the nation including The George Washington Review, Cumberland Poetry Review, Sandhills Review, Quarterly West, Spoon River Quarterly, Cape Rock, San Jose Studies and Painted Bride Quarterly.

His songs have also been recorded by folk artists such as Tracy Grammer, Joseph Helfrich and Michael Stern. He has written several books including 鈥淭he Poetry of John Greenleaf Whittier: A Reader's Edition鈥 and as well as 鈥淲hatever Was Ripe.鈥

George Fox University鈥檚 Center for Peace Learning named Jolliff a Peace Scholar in 1998. He is a member of the National Council of Teachers, the Conference on Christianity and Literature, and the Friends Association for Higher Learning.

Jolliff will also speak at chapel, Wednesday, March 22, at 10:30 a.m., in 果冻传煤鈥檚 Murchison Gym.
